Inspiration: capturing the essence of the modern south
This project, completed by Julien, transforms a backyard into a true living space. This outdoor kitchen evokes the elegance of a private villa, designed as a natural extension of the home, where entertaining, cooking, and sharing come naturally.
The Distinction collection outdoor kitchen cabinets, in the Driftwood shade, form the heart of this design. The layout combines full-height cabinets to maximize storage with mid-height cabinets beneath the cooking equipment. The fully airtight closure system ensures optimal protection against Quebec winters. The absence of open shelving creates a clean, uniform visual line.
Southern contemporary architecture guided every design decision. The covered roof creates a seamless transition between indoors and outdoors, offering protection while preserving openness to the garden. The Driftwood tone naturally complements the ceiling’s wood, the furniture, and the surrounding greenery to create a soothing palette.
The challenge was translating this private villa aesthetic into our Quebec reality. Julien successfully achieved that balance, where modern forms meet an almost tropical softness.
Designed for living to the fullest
Julien created a space where movement between work zones flows effortlessly. The thoughtful mix of cabinet heights adds visual dynamism while maintaining overall harmony.
Beyond technical performance, this project was designed above all as a welcoming gathering place. The covered roof allows this space to be enjoyed even on less-than-perfect days, turning the kitchen into a true four-season living area.
